A Message to Authorities

For many years, INTERPORTPOLICE has worked with authorities around the world to improve incident management, share lessons learned, and develop practical guidance for today's security challenges. We are now forming committees so that authorities can help shape and carry this work forward.

In 2010, our Board decided to operate without membership fees. We have continued to provide programs and training under that model, but rising costs and the lack of reliable income have made it difficult to sustain and expand them. We are therefore introducing an annual membership fee.

Membership fees will help us coordinate our global network, maintain current contacts as agency leadership changes, and continue developing guidance, training, and collaborative programs. We also ask member authorities to contribute their experience and, where possible, participate in the committees doing this work.

We recognize that some authorities cannot accommodate a membership fee in their current budgets. Those authorities are welcome to enquire about our Agency Observer programme so we can consider how they may remain involved.

In the event a security or public safety port authority joins, the police agency having jurisdiction is included in the membership.

Associate Individual Member

Any individual police, public safety, or security officer who has responsibility for any AVSEC or MARSEC related responsibility.

Other government bodies, security forces under the direction of an authority, agency, or carrier.

Our goal is to ensure no authority is left out – if, for some reason, your authority cannot at this time subscribe to the Member Authority category, you can apply for a temporary or permanent classification for authority organizations that significantly support and/or contribute to the public safety and security of the aviation, maritime, and transportation sectors.
