Ronningen was working in the South Tower of the World Trade Center when the attacks occurred. Drawing upon his security training and experience, he attempted to reach the building’s security command center before conditions forced him to evacuate. He became the last person known to have escaped the South Tower before it collapsed.
During the interview, Secretary Grant and Ronningen discuss the events of that morning from the perspective of someone who was not only caught inside the disaster but was also trained to recognize danger and respond to emergencies.
