INTERPORTPOLICE participated in MSC 111, held at the IMO Headquarters in London from 13 to 22 May 2026. Items on the agenda of interest to INTERPORTPOLICE members include maritime security, piracy and armed robbery against ships, and unsafe mixed migration by sea. Under the agenda item on maritime security, the Committee: • adopted a resolution on “Revised guidelines on the prevention of access by stowaways and the allocation of responsibilities to seek the successful resolution of stowaway cases”. (This matches resolution FAL.20(50) on the same subject, adopted by the IMO Facilitation Committee (FAL 50) in March 2026 taking into account proposals cosponsored by INTERPORTPOLICE); • approved the revised Guidelines on maritime cyber risk management (MSC-FAL.1/Circ.3/Rev.4), also approved by FAL 50; and • agreed to further consideration and discussion on how the ISPS Code could be leveraged to enhance maritime security especially against illicit and criminal activities and invited interested Member States and international organizations to submit relevant proposals to a future session of the MSC.
INTERPORTPOLICE will continue to support the work of the MSC and FAL Committees.
