INTERPORTPOLICE at World Maritime University (WMU), April 2026

On 9 April 2026 DSG Chris Trelawny was back at the International Maritime Organization’s World Maritime University, in Malmo, Sweden. This time he was supporting Prof Khanssa Lagdami’s course on maritime safety, security, and labour within the wider MSc in Maritime Affairs programme. Chris’ lecture focused on the development of maritime safety and security policy at IMO, delivered from the perspective of an organization in consultative status. Key issues included the work of the Maritime Safety Committee and the Facilitation Committee, what is on their agendas and how INTERPORTPOLICE and other NGOs can support IMO Member States. INTERPORTPOLICE has recently supported Masters level training at WMU, the International Maritime Law Institute (IMO IMLI) and Abaarso Tech University in Hargeisa.
