Fred V. Morrone
Fred V. Morrone was the Superintendent of Police and Director of Public Safety at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. On September 11, 2001, he and 36 fellow officers gave their lives at the World Trade Towers — the highest ranking public official and police officer to perish that day.
Morrone was the Executive Vice President and incoming President of INTERPORTPOLICE at the time of his death. His vision for global counterterrorism education and his commitment to assisting developing nations in maintaining security became the foundation of the center that bears his name.

Wall of Honor — 9/11 Tribute
Officers and personnel who gave their lives on September 11, 2001.
Furthering our commitment to "Never Forget" on November 28, 2012, after a delay due to hurricane Sandy, the International Police and Public Safety 9/11 Medal was presented with valor, posthumously, in memory of our fallen colleagues from November 11, 2001 to the officers of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department and New York Police Department to the two Departments on behalf of the families.
The 9/11 emblem, with 37 stars, is in memory of our colleagues, Fred Morrone and the thirty-six other PAPD fallen officers, and those who shall continue in their footsteps, fighting terrorist activity.

Conferred upon a public safety or public policy leader who has significantly advanced policies contributing to a safer and more secure world.
