6th High-Level Meeting on the Implementation of the Jeddah Amendment to the Djibouti Code Of Conduct

INTERPORTPOLICE Deputy Secretary General Chris Trelawny was lead facilitator for the Sixth High-level Regional Meeting on Implementation of the Jeddah Amendment to the Djibouti Code of Conduct (DCoC/JA).

Representatives of signatory States and attendees from partner organizations, met at the President Hotel in Cape Town, Republic of South Africa, from 24 to 26 October 2023.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Mr Sobantu Tilayi, (Republic of South Africa), co-chaired by Rear Admiral Naji Al-Juhani (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), hosted by the Republic of South Africa and supported by the International Maritime Organization.

The primary objectives of this High-Level Meeting were to identify means to operationalize the DCoC/JA Information Sharing Network, address evolving maritime challenges and security priorities of Signatory States, and agree on the concrete measures to be adopted by Signatory States in implementing the DCoC/JA.

In support of these objectives, the Participants considered and adopted the following three resolutions:

  • Resolution #1 on Operationalization of the DCoC/JA Information Sharing Network;

  • Resolution #2 on Development of a DCoC Signatory States’ Maritime Security Strategy; and

  • Resolution #3 on Establisment of Thematic Sub-Working Groups for Working Group 2 on Capacity Building Coordination.

The Cape Town meeting further developed the work done at the Fifth High-level Meeting held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 22 to 24 November 2022, which was also facilitated by INTERPORTPOLICE.
