Community policing heritage dates back hundreds of years. Reaching out to the communities, and including those organizations and individuals into the security solutions can assist in developing an all-inclusive and all-encompassing security environment.

Community policing and security is about connecting with the community, building trust, forming a relationship, and committing resources to ensure there is regular contact. It needs to be supported by multiple stakeholders. A multi-agency approach will provide that ‘ring of steel’ security. In addition to formal intelligence methods, community contact will enhance available intelligence and information sharing.
